The UCLA Police Department provides online access to department policies that are of interest to the public. This is part of our on-going efforts to be open, accessible and accountable to the community we serve. We believe that this information will assist the community to better evaluate the Department and understand the actions taken by officers. It is not possible to anticipate every situation that may arise or to prescribe a specific course of action in each scenario that officers will face. However, these policies are the guidelines that govern officers' actions. We also expect all members to exercise common sense and good judgement.
California Senate Bill 978 requires that as of January 1, 2020, each local law enforcement agency must conspicuously post all current standards, policies, practices, operating procedures, and education and training materials on their web site that would otherwise be available to the public if a request was made pursuant to the California Public Records Act. Below, you will find administrative information and other training material utilized by the UCLA Police Department. This web page will be periodically updated to reflect new policies and training materials as they are adopted by the UCLA Police Department based on new laws and best practices.
Community feedback is important to the UCLA Police Department. We encourage the public to provide comments about exemplary performance by our employees or to identify actions that are not in accordance with established policies. Please use the email address provided on the bottom of this page to submit feedback.
