Welcome, and thank you for visiting the UCLA Police Department website. Here at the Police Department, we believe our greatest asset is our personnel. The men and women of the UCLA Police Department proudly serve this community with a firm commitment to our Core Values: ACCOUNTABILITY, RESPECT, INTEGRITY, SERVICE and EXCELLENCE.
As one of the nation’s premier universities, our highest priority is to ensure for the safety of students, faculty, staff and campus visitors, and to support of the university’s mission of education, research and service. We accomplish this by developing community partnerships and problem-solving techniques to proactively address crime, the fear of crime and quality of life issues. By working together, UCLA is a safer place.
It is our hope that those officers you see on campus and the surrounding community, along with our support staff behind the scenes, will provide outstanding customer service. The police department also supports two student operated programs that date back to the 1970’s. Our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Community Service Officer (CSO) Programs have been a model for other universities.
I encourage you to browse our website for information about our department, statistics on crime and other services we offer, such as how to sign up for the UCPD public safety list serve.
We look forward to serving you.
Sincerely,
John Thomas
